A Farmer’s Approach to Detecting Photoperiod Sensitivity in Rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) Landraces

نویسندگان

چکیده

Most indigenous rice landraces are sensitive to photoperiod during short day seasons, and this sensitivity is more pronounced in indica than japonica landraces. Attempts identify (PPS) cultivars based on the life history stages of plant, several models indices phenology length have not been precise, some cases yield counterfactual inferences. Following empirical method traditional Asian farmers, author has developed a robust index, sowing flowering dates large number grown different seasons from 2020 2023, contradistinguish PPS insensitive cultivars. Unlike other sensitivity, index does require presumed duration plant but relies only days till cultivar sown consistently

A profile of heavy metals in rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) landraces

Uptake of metals in rice has been reported in the context of human health and nutrition. In particular, low levels of heavy metals like Fe, Zn, Cu and Mn in rice and other cereals are considered to be desirable for good preventive nutrition. According to FAO and WHO, the daily recommended intake of Fe, Zn, Cu, and Mn for an average adult is 15, 12, 1.5–3.0 mg and 2–5 mg respectively. Zn deficie...

Population structure analysis and association mapping of blast resistance in indica rice (Oryza sativa L.) landraces.

Rice blast caused by Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most devastating rice diseases worldwide. To understand the genetic diversity of indica landrace accessions and identify simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers that are associated with blast resistance, a population of 276 indica landraces from across the world was constructed. This population was then used to evaluate the blast-resistance phe...

A draft sequence of the rice genome (Oryza sativa L. ssp. indica).

We have produced a draft sequence of the rice genome for the most widely cultivated subspecies in China, Oryza sativa L. ssp. indica, by whole-genome shotgun sequencing. The genome was 466 megabases in size, with an estimated 46,022 to 55,615 genes. Functional coverage in the assembled sequences was 92.0%. About 42.2% of the genome was in exact 20-nucleotide oligomer repeats, and most of the tr...

Nonindependent domestication of the two rice subspecies, Oryza sativa ssp. indica and ssp. japonica, demonstrated by multilocus microsatellites.

The origins of the Asian cultivated rice Oryza sativa from its wild ancestor O. rufipogon have been debated for decades. The question mainly concerns whether it originated monophyletically or polyphyletically. To shed light on the origins and demographic history of rice domestication, we genotyped a total of 92 individual plants from the two O. sativa subspecies and O. rufipogon for 60 microsat...

Mapped Clone and Functional Analysis of Leaf-Color Gene Ygl7 in a Rice Hybrid (Oryza sativa L. ssp. indica)

Leaf-color is an effective marker to identify the hybridization of rice. Leaf-color related genes function in chloroplast development and the photosynthetic pigment biosynthesis of higher plants. The ygl7 (yellow-green leaf 7) is a mutant with spontaneous yellow-green leaf phenotype across the whole lifespan but with no change to its yield traits. We cloned gene Ygl7 (Os03g59640) which encodes ...
